About Katie Beane

Katie Beane (RYT 500hr) is a mama, yogini, energy worker, and Love Warrior. She digs the moon, a good belly laugh, spending time with her peeps, reading great books under soft blankets, and unexpected adventures. Katie began practicing yoga and meditation while caring for her terminally ill mother and found a sense of peace and calm on her mat that she craved during a chaotic and painful time in her life. Since then, yoga has become her touchstone, guiding her into a new world of health and healing. Since beginning her practice, yoga has allowed her to appreciate and celebrate her body and mind, stay centered—regardless of what life brings—and serve others.
Katie brings a deep respect for bodies of ALL shapes, sizes, and abilities to her teaching and firmly believes that EVERY body can practice and benefit from yoga. She is committed to social justice and values the role yoga and mindfulness play in helping people see and speak the truth. She is passionate about making yoga accessible to ALL and to offering each student she encounters the opportunity to experience a greater sense of ease and alignment—physically, emotionally, and energetically. Katie incorporates breath, Reiki, meditation, and her sense of humor into each class.

Training and Certifications
Katie completed a 200hr and 500hr vinyasa training through Jacqui Bonwell's Sacred Seeds Yoga School and is currently a lead teacher for Jacqui's 200-hour training programs in maine. She also completed a Pre-Natal Teacher Training with Amy Hopkins at GLOW Holistic Wellness Studio in York, Maine, is a certified Sacred Pregnancy and Calm Birth instructor, and Birth Roots-trained doula. She participated in the Yoga for All body-positive teacher training with Amber Carnes and Dianne Bondy, as well as Chelsea Roff's Eat, Breathe, Thrive: Yoga, Food, and Body Image Intensive in 2015. Most recently, she completed Sagel Urlacher's Yin Yoga teacher training, and became a certified Balanced Athlete Coach with Johnny Gillespie. She has received additional training in teaching trauma-sensitive yoga at Bridge Studio at Art of Awareness in South Portland where she is employed. |
Energy Work
Katie began doing hands-on intuitive energy work as a child when her mother, a registered nurse, taught her the Therapeutic Touch technique. Katie studied with Pat Iyer to become a certified Usui Reiki practitioner and brings this ancient healing technique to every aspect of her teaching and practice, She offers private Reiki healing sessions and periodically serves as a Reiki practitioner in workshops, including Jacqui Bonwell's Energetic Liberation and Sagel Urlacher's Yin Yoga and Meditation: Journey into Loving Kindness.
Katie is passionate about bringing the teachings and benefits of both Reiki and yoga to EVERY BODY, making each accessible and enjoyable, regardless of a person's size, shape, or ability level. She brings a deep respect for bodies of all abilities to her teaching and focuses on creating safe, fun, and inspiring experiences that are body-positive—honoring and celebrating each person exactly as they are.
Katie resides in Portland with her fantastically funny eight-year-old son, Albie.
